The Sturmgeschutz III (StuG III) assault gun was the most produced German armoured fighting vehicle of World War II. Built on the chassis of the proven Panzer III tank, it was initially intended as a mobile, armoured light gun for infantry support - and was continually modified, widely employed as a tank destroyer.

Due to the versatile and reliable nature of the tank, it was put into action by a number of nations during World War II. Finland purchased 30 - Many of which survive to this day - such is the reliability of the Stug chassis.
