The Red Armys partisan brigades caused havoc behind German lines. The Germans set their Polizei units to guard vital supply columns and rail junctions, and hunt the partisans down at every opportunity. Often this tied up much-needed resources, and the Germans had to keep much-needed manpower in the rear to deal with the partizan threat.
