An ancient being, the true reason of why and how he came to exist in this state are long-forgotten - though some say that perhaps he was once the mighty leader of a realm to the east of Mordor. Whatever his past, he now serves under the watchful eye of Sauron, bound solely to do the bidding of his dark master.
