This is a lowland (Bei no Naya) rice barn, all ‘Mura’ (villages) had a ‘Taka’ (estimated field tax burden) that they had to pay their ‘Daimyo’. ‘Tata’ was calculated in multiples of ‘Koku’ (the rice needed to feed one man for one year), these taxes were paid in produce and stored in this sort of barn before being sent to the local castle town.
